Ceardlann Fighting Words

Bhí an-áthas orainn fáilte a chur roimh an ngrúpa Fighting Words (@fightingwordsireland) go Nás na Ríogh le déanaí.
Ba iad Bríd-Treasa agus Ola a bhí i bhfeighil ar an gceardlann scríbhneoireachta cruthaithí i Leabharlann Nás na Ríogh, áit ar thosaíomar ag scríobh gearrscéil le chéile mar ghrúpa. Chaitheamar vóta maidir leis na carachtair, an suíomh agus an “fhadhb”, agus ghlac gach duine a seal don chéad alt. Nuair a bhí sin críochnaithe, bhí deis againn an scéal a chur i gcrích asainn féin agus ár gcuid scríbhneoireachta a léamh os ard ag an deireadh.

Bhain a dream na haon súp as an gceardlann, bhí an chruthaitheacht, an tsamhlaíocht agus forbairt muiníne sa ghrúpa le mothú go smior sa seomra.

Tá obair na gcapall ar bun ag Fighting Words, grúpa a thugann deis do dhaoine óga agus don phobal a nguth féin a aimsiú tríd an scéalaíocht agus an tscríbhneoireacht chruthaitheach. Tá a gcur chuige bunaithe ar chruthaitheacht, comhpháirtíocht, cothromas agus spreagadh, agus bhí sé sin le sonrú go soiléir sa cheardlann seo.

We were delighted to welcome the Fighting Words group to Naas recently.
Bríd-Treasa and Ola led the creative writing workshop in Naas Library, where we began writing a short story together as a group. We voted on the characters, the setting and the “problem”, and everyone took their turn contributing to the opening paragraph. Once that was completed, we had the opportunity to finish the story individually and read our writing aloud at the end.

The group got so much out of the workshop, the creativity, imagination and growth in confidence within the group could really be felt throughout the room.

Fighting Words are doing incredible work, giving young people and the wider community the opportunity to find their own voice through storytelling and creative writing. Their approach is rooted in creativity, collaboration, equality and encouragement, and this was very clearly reflected throughout the workshop.
